XVIVO Scientific Animation has an exciting new client whose science is arcane, highly detailed, incredibly tiny, and requires a great deal of processing power to animate. Our client, Zirus, is a small biotech firm in Atlanta, Georgia whose research platform may lead to the prevention/treatment of pandemic flu, bioterrorist-designed viruses, the common cold, HIV, Ebola and neglected infectious diseases in the developing world. These are very big goals for a small company, but CEO David Perryman is convinced Zirus can help change the world over time. The goal David gave XVIVO was to explain in ground-breaking animation how Zirus’ research was accomplished and how its implementation will help stop scourges that have devastated people for millennia and perplexed modern medicine since its inception. This explanation would take place in seven minutes of screen time and be understandable by lay people as well as specialists in the field. It would rely on the most current understanding of viral structure and function, including viral interaction with human host cells.

XVIVO was fortunate to be allowed to use one of Intel's newest desktop containing the liquid cooled Intel® Core™ i7 processor Extreme Edition as part of our production stream. What a smokin' dream machine! We have been so impressed with the speed this machine has to run tests, simulations and render complex scenes that we will build new blade servers with these processors once they become available. We recently built ten blade servers containing Xeon 5400 series chips totaling eighty cores, that are crucial to our throughput. Thanks Intel!
